It is that time of the year when you have your children with you almost 24/7 if they are not sent to a daycare or a summer camp. Also, you are ambitious to “teach” them some Vietnamese. Where to begin? I honestly do not have answer for you. I do, however, have some suggestions for FIVE Youtube channels that offer programs in Southern-accent and Northern accent.
If you want your kids to learn the Vietnamese alphabet “the proper way”, you can direct them to HTV Science and Education (HTV Khoa hoc giao duc) for Southern accent programs and VTV7KIDS ABC vui tung gio for Northern accent.
With HTV Khoa hoc giao duc, your children and you will actually watch a Vietnamese teacher delivering Alphabet lessons including pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary and writing.
With VTV7Kids ABC Vui từng giờ, they offer fun animated videos that teach the alphabet. Everything is in Vietnamese! No subtitles. If you want something similar to HTV7, you can browse VTV7 playlist and surely will find “official” lessons where elementary teachers teach the alphabet.
If you want your kids to listen to bedtime stories or watch cartoon in Vietnamese, head to the following channels.
Okidokido Tiếng Việt and Câu chuyện cổ tích Việt Nam have animated videos that tells stories in Southern Vietnamese accents.
VinaCartoon (both Nothern and Southern accents) offers series of cartoons and animated videos which can be Vietnamese or international folklores. Some of their videos will have Vietnamese titles which could help with reading comprehension
