The story behind Vietbookstore

Bringing Vietnamese Stories to Vietnamese  Families Abroad

When we moved to the US and started our family, we discovered how hard it was to find Vietnamese books—especially for our son Roland. We realized thousands of Vietnamese American families faced the same challenge. So we started Viet BookStore to bring the books we love from Vietnam directly to families across the United States.

Meet Tung & Quynh

We're Tung Ho and Quynh Dang, and our journey with Viet BookStore began with a simple wish: to raise our son Roland connected to his Vietnamese heritage and fluent in the language.

After moving to the US and settling in Indianapolis, we faced a challenge that many Vietnamese American parents know all too well—searching endlessly for Vietnamese children's books, manga, and literature, and finding almost nothing locally. We wanted Roland to grow up with the same stories we loved, to see himself in the pages of books, and to feel connected to Vietnamese culture.

We started small, helping family and friends find books from Vietnam. But soon we realized we could help the entire Vietnamese American community. Today, we hand-select every title in our 5,000+ product catalog, imagining Roland and children like him discovering these stories.

Our Mission

  • Accessibility: Making Vietnamese and bilingual books available in the US with fast, affordable shipping from our Indianapolis warehouse
  • Authenticity: Every book is sourced directly from Vietnam publishers—sealed, new, and 100% authentic
  • Community: Supporting Vietnamese Americans staying connected to their heritage and raising bilingual children
  • Selection: 5000+ titles across manga, children's books, literature, romance, horror, educational materials, and cultural items
  • Education: Partnering with libraries and schools to bring Vietnamese books to more readers

More Than a Bookstore

Viet BookStore is about cultural preservation and community:

  • Library program: We partner with libraries to make Vietnamese books available for free through library cards
  • Blog & resources: Sharing Vietnamese culture, book reviews, and learning resources through our blog
  • Supporting authors: Promoting Vietnamese authors and publishers
  • Cultural preservation: Every book we sell helps preserve Vietnamese language and culture for the next generation"When Roland picks up a Vietnamese book and recognizes a word, or laughs at a Doraemon story, we remember why we started this. We hope Viet BookStore helps your family create those same moments

For Libraries

We help libraries source books read more

Greetings,

We are Tung Ho & Quynh Dang, owners of Viet Bookstore LLC—a small business that specializes in Vietnamese and bilingual Vietnamese and English books in the US. We are reaching out to ask for the opportunity to work with your library to supply Vietnamese and bilingual books if possible.

Moving to the US and building our family here, we are very grateful for the diversity of books and literature online and local libraries offer. However, it is extremely hard to find Vietnamese book and literature for ourselves and for our little son, Roland. With a genuine hope to make Vietnamese and bilingual books more available in the States, we started our small business Viet Bookstore to bring all made in Vietnam books to the US. At the beginning, we started small with some requests from family and friends, but soon we realize that to make Vietnamese books more accessible to the wider population, it is best to reach out to our local libraries and offer our best pricing so that people can borrow books from libraries with their library cards.

Vietnamese community is growing fast in the US and having Vietnamese books available in the local libraries is one the best ways to support the community. We are proud and excited to make this process easier.

You can check out our current collection at https://vietbookstore.com/. We have shipments twice a month from Vietnam and take pre-order for all kinds of books—boardbooks, bibliographies, comic book, pop-ups, hardcover, and so on. If you are interested in our collection and more, we'd really love to talk more, either via email or online meeting.

Please feel free to reach out to us at xinchao@vietbookstore.com if you are interested or have more questions.

Thank you,

Tung Ho & Quynh Dang
